I just got the message from Transportation that all routes are clear!And with that, #AldineFirstDay is officially in the books.
There’s something about the first day of school that never gets old. Visiting campuses, seeing the smiles on our students’ faces, celebrating our teachers, leaders and staff while feeling the energy and hope that come with a brand new year filled my heart.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, I found myself reflecting on my own journey - 28 years serving in public education and 19 years serving as a superintendent. So many years. So many children. So many educators. So many lessons, challenges, prayers, and blessings along the way.
And after all this time, I still love this work. I still believe deeply in the power of public education. And I’m still grateful that God has given me the opportunity to serve.
Day one is done, but the work and the opportunity to make a difference for children is just beginning. I’m grateful for today, hopeful for tomorrow, and excited about all that’s ahead for Aldine. #chooseAldine

Today we celebrated #AldineFirstDay for most of our schools! It was an exciting morning at Eisenhower Senior High and Eisenhower 9th Grade, where we kicked things off with a mini pep rally featuring students from the #swoopswoop football team, drum line, cheerleaders, and dance teams. A huge shoutout to our dedicated teachers, leaders and staff! A special thank you to KPRC and CW39 for capturing the spirit of #AldineFirstDay!
