@CassaundraBlan4 @ideas4youth Change usually happens from the grassroots not from those in power, most are in power for self interest or for those like them. The change has to come from individuals and communities uniting and working together @ideas4youth #APYDCHAT @CassaundraBlan4
A6: can't say anything better than what has already been stated. consistent training and having a line on resources. If the school or district can't afford it, partner with area orgs who specialize #APYDCHAT
@ideas4youth Here is a great link to see how to implement and sustain organizational change. #APYDCHAT https://t.co/FkJMdstiyC
@ideas4youth The community has to work together. School employees, students, parents, community leaders, service groups, business leaders, government reps, law enforcement, and media. https://t.co/smGcZsTS1J #APYDCHAT
@ideas4youth A6: I feel that in order for there to be implemented and sustained school environments there must be a call for attention by those that are in power for organizational change. #APYDCHAT
A5: We have a bevy of resources covering a wide range of traumatic events, from natural disasters to school shootings. Our resources help educators focus on response, recovery, and how to handle event anniversaries. https://t.co/3HRVeosNM8 #APYDCHAT
Q5: Post-trauma support is often overlooked. After a school incident, what are best practices for responding to student or teacher #trauma and planning for recovery? #APYDCHAT #k12 #education

@ideas4youth Ongoing counseling and availability to mental health is crucial but school administrators, school counselors, teachers, law enforcement, parents and teachers have to work together to continue to identify and prevent threats @ideas4youth #APYDCHAT
@amandaklinger @ideas4youth I love changing the view from just school shootings to how to respond to any crisis or need to evacuate. What a much better way to prepare and make schools safe for any unexpected event. #APYDCHAT
@ideas4youth discussion 👏 awareness 👏 community involvement 👏whole school buy-in 👏education 👏mental health supports 👏 #APYDCHAT
Last question for today, Q6: Building a positive #schoolculture creates a safe school environment. How do we implement and sustain #schoolsafety practices both inside and outside of school? #APYDCHAT
@ideas4youth Ongoing counseling and availability to mental health is crucial but school administrators, school counselors, teachers, law enforcement, parents and teachers have to work together to continue to identify and prevent threats @ideas4youth #APYDCHAT
@amandaklinger @CassaundraBlan4 That makes so much sense because there are probably a ton of things that can happen in schools that we would not expect but we know how to react and evacuate from our general knowledge of crisis response. #APYDCHAT
@ideas4youth And keep in mind- the trauma doesn't need to be as catastrophic as a school shooting to necessitate recovery and mental health supports. #APYDCHAT
@ideas4youth A5: Child Trauma Toolkit -This toolkit was developed for school administrators, teachers, staff, and parents to provide basic information about working with traumatized children in schools. #APYDCHAT https://t.co/uwVppyfJxF
