El documental A Serbian Film nos lleva a un mundo donde la magia del cine lo vuelve a hacer, mostrándonos cómo una de las películas más extremas revela el proceso de los VFX utilizados para crear sus escenas controversiales, llevándola al cine snuff y al porno hardcore, sin la intención de serlo.
Muestra el proceso que llevó a Srdjan Spasojević a dirigir algo que ellos llaman “la realidad de Serbia y del mundo” en 2010, y cómo representa la parte de la sociedad que está mal.
Tras terminar el rodaje, siguió el revelado. Esta fue la primera película europea grabada en su totalidad en 4K. Tras intentar revelarla en Serbia, la policía tuvo que incautar la cinta y quemarla.
El equipo tuvo que viajar a cinco países diferentes y revelar el material parte por parte para poder lograrlo. Esto fue difícil, ya que, al ser una película sumamente criticada, estaba sujeta a censura; además, al tratarse de un filme independiente, tuvo que pasar por muchos cambios y distintas formas de exhibición.
