#Day2 at #ASIS2026 has been in full swing, with bold conversations, fresh perspectives and strategic connections focused on financing Africa’s future.
A key highlight was the Plan International Nigeria-powered plenary, “Investing in Inclusion: How Gender and Youth-Responsive Financing Drives Economic Transformation.” The session brought together representatives from Plan International Nigeria, the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Sahara Group Foundation and Co-Creation Hub to explore the financing barriers limiting women and young people, alongside practical approaches for expanding access to capital, employment, entrepreneurship and decision-making opportunities.
Among other priorities, the discussion emphasised stronger partnerships, accountability, inclusive financing frameworks and sustained investment in ecosystems that enable women- and youth-led enterprises to thrive beyond individual projects.
As conversations continue across the Summit, one message remains clear: Africa’s economic transformation cannot be achieved without intentionally investing in women and young people as innovators, entrepreneurs, leaders and drivers of sustainable growth.

#Day2 at #ASIS2026 begins with the momentum, reflections and bold ideas that shaped Day 1.
From conversations on financing Africa’s future, private-sector leadership, education transformation, safe learning, the creative economy, ESG and the green and blue economy, the message was clear: Africa’s development requires stronger partnerships, new financing approaches and action at greater speed and scale.
During the NGO workshop, “Beyond Grants: Reimagining Partnerships and Financing for Sustainable Development in Africa,” Plan International Nigeria’s Country Director, Dr Charles Emmamuzo Usie, challenged civil society organisations to respond to the changing development landscape by looking more closely at local realities, rethinking what works and building sustainability into their strategies.
He emphasised the need for organisations to engage government more intentionally, interrogate public budgets, use evidence and technology more effectively, and demonstrate how proven interventions—such as Plan International Nigeria’s Accelerated Basic Education Programme—can be adopted and financed through local systems.
The way forward requires CSOs to move beyond being implementers to becoming connectors, remain focused on outcomes rather than activities, strengthen their structures and diversify their income before grants disappear.
As Day 2 gets underway, we carry forward a defining question from Day 1: how do we turn partnerships, evidence and local opportunities into sustainable impact for Africa’s people?

#Day1 at #ASIS2026 is officially underway! 🚀
Under this year’s theme, “Financing for Development: Building Resilience and Transforming Emerging Economies,” leaders, investors, policymakers and development actors are coming together to explore how sustainable financing, innovation and strategic partnerships can accelerate Africa’s development.
As a Theme Partner, Plan International Nigeria is bringing its experience and perspective to the summit through a presentation focused on moving “Beyond Grants” and exploring alternative funding models that can strengthen organisational resilience, protect the continuity of impact, and sustain progress for children, girls and young people.
The conversations have begun, the connections are building, and the opportunities for collective action are taking shape.

#Day1 at #ASIS2026 has moved from reflection to a clear call for action.
From Africa’s investment case for transformation to conversations on capital allocation, private-sector leadership and cross-sector partnerships, one message has remained consistent: the continent’s future will be shaped by the investments and decisions we make today.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of Plan International Nigeria, our Board Chair, Dr Nanna Chidi-Emmanuel, challenged participants to consider a defining question under this year’s theme, “Financing for Development: Building Resilience and Transforming Emerging Economies”:
“What kind of future are we financing?”
She emphasised that investing in children, girls and young people is not only the right thing to do, it is one of the smartest decisions Africa can make. Development financing must go beyond funding programmes to unlocking human potential, strengthening local systems and equipping the next generation to lead resilient and transforming economies.
As speakers throughout the opening sessions reinforced, this Summit is an implementation platform and a call to move from rhetoric to action, with greater urgency, stronger partnerships and impact delivered at speed and scale.
At Plan International Nigeria, we remain committed to partnerships that turn ideas into measurable change and recognise girls and young people as active partners in Africa’s development.
