To begin with book industry isn't yet officially recognised as an industry by the Govt.
Apart, there aren't any such books that explains the nitty gritty of this business but what we can definitely share (with our little experience) is that books aren't mere commodities.

Sir, we sell and are keen to sell all books that are available in print. We don't distinguish books based on ideology, and we sincerely believe that even readers should read all books they wish to without getting into a trap of ideological bias.

As far as reasons are concerned, Readers would fathom them only after reading this book.

In case of Physical Books - Immense. You would always want a pretty book to sit on your bookshelf, no? And, there are some Indian Publishers who really do a fabulous job, like - @juggernautbooks, @niyogibooks, @ombooksdelhi, @RoliBooks and few others.

We would credit books for that. You read a book, and the first thought always is to share about it but you need readers for that, no? Unlike Films or Sports, where the communities are driven by a purpose, Book communities are always driven by this sense of sharing.

All we can say that majority of Indian Publishers have become more like Printers, and this won't continue for long. There's an immense pressure on us to get into Publishing but that maybe a conflict of interest. Let us see what's our Prarabdha 🙏

You raise a significant point, and unfortunately the kind of fiction books that are published in India these days, it is only time that this genre completely disappears from India. This maybe the reason for the non-fiction influx that you mentioned.
@PadhegaIndia_ #AskPI Really wanted to know about the fiction and non-fiction market divide in India. Recently there has been an influx of non-fiction and new authors which may have triggered rushed buying in the community (dont know how much of it is fomo).

That's a significant challenge, not just for Authors and Publishers, but also for booksellers. Also, what you call as "information overload" we believe it to be mere "data overload". Also, Data, Information and Knowledge are three different things altogether.

We believe SM users have only become smarter with every passing day, especially since monetization has been introduced on this platform. These SM users know how getting into fights or writing something stupid would get them more reach, and hence they use it as a strategy.

To get a good publishing deal, all you need is a certain amount of followers on Social Media. And we can't completely blame Publishers for the same, after all they are business houses at the end of the day. Maybe readers need to make a choice more distinctively, and fathom the difference between an influencer and a writer. To summarise - All influencers can easily become Authors, no matter what garbage or shit they write or get ghost written, but there's no guarantee for a
good writer to even get a basic publishing contract.
@PadhegaIndia_ How do celebs and ‘famous’ authors get deals faster in traditional publishing while really good writers are just rejected like that? Even when the plot or writing by these celebs or ghost writing done is really mediocre while some of best written work is never out there?
