So grateful for the incredible @PLOSGPH section editors and @PLOS library partners who are making our Global Equity model walk the walk... #equity #beyondAPCs #openaccess #openscience #AskMeAboutPLOSGlobalEquity
@mitlibraries expect to understand how deals are furthering equity, whether it's waiver, flat fees, etc. Be willing to lift the hood on how you're supporting authors who cannot pay fees.

"These collaborations build partnerships" @mitlibraries were willing to LEARN when we hit bumps. We spent the time to lift the hood on our financials to foster understanding and it was incredible valuable for both sides.

"These are not competitive approaches. They reflect the opps/challenges faced by diff publishers and I sincerely hope we all succeed." Richard Gallagher, @AnnualReviews

Also agree it's critical to let authors/readers know that THEY don't see fees THX to their libraries. @PLOS is working out the best, scaleable way to do this.

Interesting comment from Richard @AnnualReviews - these new models need new labels. They're neither "closed" or "open" but shift depending on engagement by libraries in the case of S2O.

.@kamrannaim on Subscribe to Open launched @AnnualReviews but now taken up by other pubs. Works by incentiving economic benefit to members. Insts use subscription $ to make content open. Need to avoid impression "donative payment"#openaccess #BeyondAPCs
.@scoap3 average โฌ per article ~1100; 42 countries/3 intergov orgs support the model which benefits ALL. Not all have to participate to keep the model sustainable. Leverage group affinity/social incentives works for this kind of collective #openaccess #BeyondAPCs @kamrannaim

.@martin_eve kicking off our webinar on #openaccess and #BeyondAPCs biz models - #COVIDใผ19 has obviously shown the importance of open/accessible/discoverable research. The same is true in HSS. "If we believe there is a place for humanities in the world, it should be open"
