Ich hatte das Thema ja vor paar Wochen in #BeyondTheNoise. Und auch wenn es nicht ganz so drastisch gekommen ist wie zeitweilig diskutiert (5x Free Float), zeigt die Causa: Der #Nasdaq 100 ist eben kein unabhängiges, repräsentatives Aktien-Barometer – sondern ein Börsenbetreiber-Index und damit auch ein Machtinstrument im Wettbewerb um Listings.
Historisch hat das der Performance keinen Abbruch getan. Im Gegenteil, der Leuchtturm-Status und die langfristigen Überrenditen bedingen sich wechselseitig. Aber wenn ein Index zur Waffe im „Listing War“ wird, schürt das den Hype… und wenn der entweicht, wird‘s umso dramatischer. Zumindest eine Zeitlang. Siehe die Jahre ab 2000.

Interesting discussions today at the #BeyondTheNoise Conference on media literacy, #disinformation, big tech/algorithms and more.
I took the discussion to a geopolitical level, focusing on #FIMI (Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference).
Here are some of the points I touched upon:👇
👉🏽FIMI became much more visible after the war in #Ukraine and has been officially recognised by the #EU as a #security threat and a form of #hybrid warfare (see the Strategic Compass for Security and Defence, EEAS FIMI Threat Reports, etc.)
👉🏽The challenges are diverse and constantly evolving: different tactics, information suppression (not only amplification), and emerging technologies that increase both speed and scale.
📈That’s why being #reactive isn’t enough. If the response is slow, the chances of success increase. Preparedness, early detection and coordination really matter.
What lies ahead?
👉🏽The topic will remain high on the EU agenda, since it’s framed as a matter of information integrity and therefore democracy and security (see the European Democracy Shield - #EDS).
👉🏽It will be equally important for other countries and actors: as transatlantic relations shift and new alliances form, information is increasingly operating as a core geopolitical instrument.
