#FinalVendetta #NeoGeo: 3 years of waiting, no game delivered, and interest-free financing from customers — the #BitmapBureau method.
On June 16, 2023, Bitmap Bureau opened pre-orders for Final Vendetta on Neo Geo AES/MVS.
The issue is that Final Vendetta was not a brand-new game that still had to be developed from scratch. It had already been released in 2022 on modern platforms. The Neo Geo version was therefore a port.
And yet, when pre-orders opened, what was publicly shown mostly consisted of mock-ups: boxes, cartridges, 3D renders, but no proper final gameplay demonstration and no clear public evidence that production was actually ready.
The timeline raises serious questions: pre-orders opened in June 2023, the majority acquisition is stated in the accounts as having taken place in October 2023, the change of control was registered in late 2023, and the public announcement only came in March 2024.
Taken on its own, this does not prove wrongdoing. But in my view, it creates a very uncomfortable impression: expensive pre-orders, paid by Neo Geo fans, may have helped show strong commercial demand and increase the perceived value of Bitmap Bureau around the time of its sale.
And then? Very little.
The first real off-screen video only appeared in July 2024. Delivery was later targeted for Q2 2025, but that target was missed. Now we are in 2026, more than three years after pre-orders opened, and the game still has no firm release date.
This is even more frustrating because Bitmap Bureau had already gone through the #XenoCrisis situation on Neo Geo, with extremely long pre-orders and almost three years of waiting. But Xeno Crisis was still a game in development. Final Vendetta already existed. Somehow, the same kind of problem happened again with what was supposed to be a port.
And that is the real issue for customers: money was taken upfront, sometimes several hundred pounds/euros per person, and then communication became extremely sparse. Those who ask for a refund may choose to leave. The others are left waiting, with no firm date, little visibility, and the feeling that their money has been used as interest-free financing.
The lesson is simple: stop blindly pre-ordering expensive physical retro games, especially when nothing concrete is being shown.
Buy the game when it is finished, tested, dated, and ready to ship. As long as money is taken before the product actually exists, the risk is transferred to the customer. And once a studio already has the money, it may no longer have the same urgency to deliver. #SNK

It's been nearly 3 years since #BitmapBureau asked customers to pay for a game that hadn't even entered development yet. The result today is pretty damning.
The company has reached the point where it's posting random development updates just to fill the silence. Updates that nobody really cares about and that exist purely as filler content.
So now we know they've fixed a minor audio bug. Great. But after 3 years, there's still no release date. The message is pretty clear: if you want an independent studio to actually finish a game and make it good, never pre-fund it in any way. #SNK #NeoGeo
