#AtariSTE particle shooter: I've reorganised the palette to allow for faster sprite drawing. Sprites containing only shades of grey and white can now be drawn by the #Blitter in 2 bitplanes, whereas those also containing red, orange and yellow can be done in 3 bitplanes.

#AtariSTE particle shooter: I've started implementing movement of sprites along paths and an attack wave management system. Anybody know about designing good attack waves or enemy sprites? Contemplating further #Blitter sprite optimisation to deal with that slowdown.

For the Twitter weekend crowd who haven't seen this: I'm working on a horizontal shooter for the #AtariSTE, with a cool particle system and support for the STE hardware like #Blitter and hardware scrolling. WIP source code is also available for those interested - let me know.

If you're writing software for the #AtariSTE, and testing in the Hatari emulator, the 'info blitter' debugger command is indispensable. Break your program at any point and type 'info blitter' to view the current state of the #Blitter registers.

#AtariSTE 50fps hardware scrolling particle project: a quick test to get a feel for how much I can get on screen at 50fps once optimised. Hopefully around 8-10 #Blitter sprites, and in the region of 100 particles to cover the player ship exhaust, bullets and enemy explosions. 🤔
