Update on #blockingpeatpipes: has been a while but for a good reason. Finished the PhD successfully and passed the viva! the effect of pipe blocking on fluvial carbon got published in ESP. 10.1002/esp.5290

Today we celebrate the first #worldpeatlandsday. Increased water consumption at UK homes during lockdown shows how urgent peatland restoration is in UK. #blockingpeatpipes helps understanding how drainage from peat subsurface influences water colour with @moorsforfuture
#blockingpeatpipes contributes to the same goal, helping to understand the role of subsurface drainage via soil pipes in the removal of carbon to streams and reservoirs. These subsurface features may proof difficult to spot, but they are ubiquitous in blanket bog. @wateratleeds

Update on #blockingpeatpipes. we submitted the first paper about spatial links between peat pipes, based on the pipe survey data. Currently working on understanding the hydrological data collected at UNG in the past 2 years. @moorsforfuture

UPDATE on #blockingpeatpipes: the project has arrived in its last phase of field monitoring. During a maintenance round today, we witnessed a white rainbow. Anybody know what causes this? @metoffice @moorsforfuture @rbpmleeds
#blockingpeatpipes contributes to a better understanding of #soilpiping in degraded blanket #peatland. It may play an essential role in gully formation, sediment transport and export of carbon. Lets spice up #worldsoilday2019 and look beyond that agricultural horizont.
5 December - #WorldSoilDay. Don't forget about subsurface #SoilErosion. #SoilPiping may be at least 3 orders of magnitude higher than surface erosion rates (sheet and rill) in grasslands, and it is comparable to surface soil erosion on arable lands.

Horizontal rain at 27/09/2019, but so happy to find 20 new peat pipes in study catchment. Loads of new theories came to mind about how and where peat pipes systems develop. Looking forward flow response data of this weekends' 7hour rain shower. Ta!
