DUKE IS A FOOTBALL SCHOOL THE BATTLE OF THE DEVILS 😈 DUKE BLUE DEVILS ML {-150} 👇 PREGAME THOUGHTS 👇 The Duke Blue Devils (8–4) square off against the Arizona State Sun Devils (8–4) in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl today in El Paso, Texas. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM EST. Arizona State enters this matchup fresh off re-signing head coach Kenny Dillingham to a massive contract and will be motivated to close out what’s been an up-and-down season on a high note. However, there’s one glaring issue: the Sun Devils will be without multiple key contributors on both sides of the ball. In my opinion, that loss of talent is simply too much to overcome. If Arizona State were closer to full strength, this would be a game I’d likely stay away from—or even lean toward the Sun Devils. On the other side, Duke is returning nearly its entire offense, though the Blue Devils will be without two important defenders in Chandler Rivers (CB) and Vincent Anthony Jr. (DE). Duke’s defense has struggled all season, and losing two of their better defenders certainly doesn’t help. That said, Arizona State will be missing its starting quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and several other players who are either out or questionable. While Duke’s defense is far from elite, those Sun Devil offensive shortcomings should help level the playing field. What really stands out to me is Duke’s offense in this matchup. This unit is graded inside the top 15 nationally by Pro Football Focus and has consistently put points on the board all season. Duke clearly has the better offense and the better quarterback here, and that advantage should be the deciding factor in a game like this. One more angle worth noting: since Manny Diaz took over at Duke, the Blue Devils are 8–3 straight up in games lined at three points or fewer. This is a spot where they’ve consistently delivered. Bottom line: we’re backing the team that has the majority of its roster available, fits a spread range that has favored them, and is riding momentum after a big overtime ACC Championship win over Virginia Cavaliers.
