Meet Jeff Belle: convicted of check fraud, charged with lying on election paperwork, fined for practicing respiratory therapy without a license (he says he'll never pay it) — and the only Republican challenging Rep. Juan Vargas in California's 52nd. Five ex-wives told the San Diego Union-Tribune he exploited them financially: one had credit card debt run up in her name, his most recent ex says he pushed her into nearly $200K in risky financing that nearly bankrupted her clinic, a 79-year-old retired law enforcement leader is out $40,000 she never got back. His campaign bio claims 25 years of public service, Navy veteran, private equity CEO. None of it checks out — the tribe he says he lobbied for has never heard of him. He hasn't filed a single required financial disclosure. And yet, got 42,000 primary votes anyway because republicans are clueless. Jeff Belle isn't new to this either. Back in 2014 he ran for Contra Costa County school board — different county, different office, same allegations: criminal past, fabricated education claims, practicing medicine without a license. Same ex-wife, Casey Jones, already trying to warn people. His move then was to accuse her of having a "checkered history" and discredit her. His move now, running for Congress in 2026: call his accusers "jealous" and compare himself to Trump. He is right about the last part though. Twelve years, two counties, one fraudster fanboy trying to replicate a master fraudster.
