One of my problems with the way that the “Africans sold us” rhetoric is used as a means to attack Pan-Africanism is that Africans on the continent were actually welcoming of the Diaspora precisely because they lost family members in the slave trade.
Leading through a collectors magazine in my archive and came upon these two pages of campaign buttons of US Presidential candidates. Everybody isn’t here, of course (no Dizzy Gillespie or Lenora Fulani or Shirley Chisholm, etc), but still, a reminder that not much is new.
