4. #OccupationalTherapy (OT) was considered a priority for my son when he was diagnosed as being #autistic and in 4 years he has NEVER received an OT appointment from our #CDNT #WaitingLists
3. Aside from SLT other services are equally as poor - my son is underweight and has a restricted diet - we've had multiple hospital admissions because of this but there is no access to a #Dietician in our #CDNT
The number of children waiting over two years for an initial speech and language therapy assessment has risen by 149% in the space of 11 months.
In February, 1,245 children were awaiting an initial assessment for 24 months or more, up from 501 in March 2025.
Figures provided to Social Democrats TD for Cork South Central and chairman of the Oireachtas health committee Pádraig Rice confirmed that 36,428 children across the State were awaiting a speech and language therapy appointment of some description in February.

@ShadySparrow We have not had therapists reinstated in our area in North Kildare. It’s a long time since Jack had a full team and yet we are deemed to be lucky as he has access to an OT and a Social Worker. He should also have an SLT, Physio & Psychologist. It’s a sh1t show. #CDNT #Disability

So the HSE refuse to provide services to the child as per their Assessment of Need recommendations but instead offer workshops to a parent about something they already know about. But if the parent doesn’t attend the CHILD will be discharged from the service. Go figure 🤯🤯🤯🤯

This is so important. I will be recommending such courses for all #CDNT staff. We had a disappointingly traumatic experience at my child's introduction to the system yesterday & I would give anything for it to have gone differently. Healthcare shouldn't be traumatic 💔
