I am deeply disappointed by the appalling and divisive remarks made by my former Cook County Board colleague and current Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. To claim that President Trump is trying to “eliminate Black existence” in America is not only outrageous, it’s dangerously irresponsible, racially inflammatory rhetoric that has no place in public discourse.
I sat alongside Brandon Johnson for over four years and have watched him continue a political career built on peddling racial grievance, division, and bias. This kind of rhetoric doesn’t unite us, it tears communities apart and insults the intelligence and goodwill of every citizen of Chicago, Cook County, and beyond. Examining his incessant racially divisive dialogue, I can only assess that is Brandon’s intent.
Enough is enough. Mayor Johnson owes the public an immediate apology. This isn’t leadership, it’s race-baiting politics at its worst, and should be rebuked.
