COFFEE MEGA TRADE? 🧵 Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer, accounting for 39% of global production. Recently, Brazil has been experiencing its driest weather since 1981. The drought has damaged coffee trees during the flowering stage, which is critical for the growth of coffee beans. Global coffee demand has steadily increased over the last five years, with overall consumption climbing by 3.4% since 2018. With the supply decreasing and the demand increasing, price is starting to displace to the upside.

It looks like silver was really in a nasty place after all. My long NG at 2.810 has been a real disaster. I managed the position with a few additional short-term trades to contain the hemorrhage, but the final bill on this leg has been atrocious anyway. I am flat now at 2.237. Luckily, the first two portions of the trade in May and June performed quite well, but after the July massacre, I am well in the red. I just closed in anticipation of the rollover and will try again to buy at lower prices, but the idea I had definitely did not work. Of course, during hurricane season, anything can happen if the weather gets nasty, but I did not plan to just buy in the hope of a natural disaster. The trend at that time was encouraging, but now it’s pretty terrifying. They call it the widow maker for a reason, but to be honest, more than a consequence of a terribly difficult market, this final trade has just been the result of poor management on my side. Those juicy lows are practically begging to be obliterated. Of course, nothing is certain in the market and anything can happen at any moment, but they’re the reason I sold where I did, and I’m still waiting to complete the rollover even though I’m very bullish on copper. I’m patiently waiting below those lows to go long for a strategic position, but I might consider a quick short before they’re hit.
