#PicOfTheDay Today just a field.During #WW1 this was the site of the #RedChateau in #Courcelette. It was used by #British #Canadian & #German #Medical staff throughout WW1 as the lines changed. Places like this show that you never know what #history you are walking past daily.
Before & After; Leutnant Hermann Mayer’s headstone has now had a good scrub, brush and has dried beautifully in the sun. Glad to have preserved this little bit of history.
