For the first time in a long time, maybe ever, I’m prioritizing my long term health instead of working through pain. It’s not necessarily a great feeling, but I’ve realized it’s a priority. #CPprobs #CerebralPalsy

It can be a struggle to find people to talk to who understand the issues and challenges you are facing. Family and friends are great and in my case have been extremely supportive, but there is a difference between sympathy and empathy #CPprobs #CerebralPalsy

Support for young adults w/permanent disabilities, whether they are labeled “high functioning” or not, is so important and it’s not talked about enough. On top of normal stress and issues, they are dealing with a new awareness of their disability. #CPprobs #CerebralPalsy

Someone told me that CP is thought of as a children’s disease, and I realized there’s a lot of truth to that. There are a lot of heartwarming stories about kids, but just because they grow up doesn’t mean their issues go away. If anything they get worse #CPprobs #CerebralPalsy

You become so used to pushing yourself further and harder that when a breaking point comes, whether it be from running too much or working in adverse conditions, it’s hard to force yourself to stop and live to fight another day #CPprobs #CerebralPalsy

Various questions: “How did you get CP?” “Will it get worse?” “How do you deal with it?” CP isn’t a disease to fight or something that can be overcome. I was born with it, and it’s the only life I’ve known. I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything. #CPprobs

Anything requiring remotely good balance usually ends poorly for me, like putting boxes on high shelves at work #CPprobs

Understanding there are things I can’t do or would take me a lot longer than the average person, and understanding that asking for help isn’t the same thing as giving up #CPprobs

Some kind of pain. Whether it be ankle, knee, back, or wrist, there is always at least mild pain due to muscle tightness or fatigue (on my affected side) or over exertion (my strong side) There are ways to treat it, but it never really goes away and that’s my normal #CPprobs
