@JustABlackPug I kept notes on stuff like that and brought them all out in the speech I made at her wedding. #DadTip
One of the many examples of a Dad Tip from @KHaef Episode 275 drops today! #cuptocupshow #comedypodcast #DadTip #ThursdayMorning
#DadTip (this time from my wife!):
I got my #HAMRadio license years ago - my lovely wife wasn't at all interested in getting hers. I pushed and prodded (moreso that I should have).
One day, another Mom from the neighborhood was talking with my wife. There was an evacuation drill at the local elementary school and parents were having a hard time finding their kids to pick them up.
This lady from the neighborhood had her HAM Radio in-hand, my wife asked about it.
"This isn't an emergency, it's just a drill, but if it were an emergency, my kids have HAM Radios in their backpacks. They can just push a button and tell me where they are - and I can push a button and tell them where to go to meet me. Phones will get clogged up, and those GMRS/FRS walkie talkies have too many people trying to use them - we learned that at Disney Land. You don't need a license to listen, so I told them where to meet me, but if it were an emergency, they could talk back without a license - but they're studying for one anyway."
Just like that, my wife wanted her HAM Radio license, got it, joined the local HAM Radio Club, and their women's auxiliary.
We never needed the radios in an emergency, but as our family outgrew being able to vacation in one car, we put a radio in each one and could chat up and down the highway - not just to say when someone needed a potty break or to stop for food and gas, but just general conversation, too.
We would equip the kiddos with radios in hikes, and have them be our operators.
A license will run you under $50. A cheap radio costs under $20 - the "good one" I just bought was $200.
Well worth the investment - and the memories.

#DadTip: Non-grid power is important these days.
Whether it's charging phones, radios, ear buds, or tablets - or any number of other things.
Cars need jump starting (even EVs can have their 12V battery go out on them!).
Tools of all kinds need batteries!
Before you get too far along in life, pick a brand and stick with it - consider what battery platform will serve all of your Non-grid power needs.
Two decades ago I was gifted a set of @DEWALTtough tools (not sponsored).
Since then I've built on their 20V/60V system.
Drills, drivers, saws, Sanders, lights, chainsaw, Bluetooth speaker, even a snowblower and small compressor - all powered with #Dewalt batteries. https://t.co/OwOuWCyBUr
3rd party accessories I've picked up include a jumper for 12V batteries, and a generic 12V adaptor.
I can charge my phones, tablets, laptops, and even run my HAM radios off lightweight and ubiquitous DeWalt batteries.
Obviously, Dewalt works for me - but the same concept can be applied to your tool-brand of choice.
So before you go buying proprietary off-grid battery solutions, take a look at your tool shed and see how batteries you already have can be put to different uses!
Showered, trimmed, and ready for the day. Every day is the same. When you think you can take a "weeee" moment on the weekend, you'll set yourself up for failure. Think logically, not emotionally.
But HEY! Who am I lol๐คท

#Dadtip : To all my buddies (Or Humans alike) who are ๐ to this, who have just had babies, or raising them right now.......
๐You got this. Take a deep breath for me, and say that back to yourself a couple times. Hardest job in the world doesn't come with a fucking manual. Go figure.
Do you love them? โ
Do you want the best for them? โ
Will you do anything for them? โ
If you answered yes to those things, I have no doubt in my mind that you will fucking #Nail this parenting thing. Ok? Got it? Good!๐
Ps - No, nobody expects you to have all the answers all the time, JUST AS LONG AS YOU ARE TRYING.
Have a fucking awesome Friday!
#DadTip: ๐ Parenting is a rollercoaster ride ๐ข, and it's okay if you're not always on top of it. Embracing vulnerability and reaching out for support when needed sets a shining example for your little ones. Remember, by prioritizing your mental well-being, you're not just caring for yourself, but also teaching your kids the importance of resilience and self-care. ๐ #Parenting #MentalWellness
I know I push on taking care of yourself, because its something I neglected for SO long. It really is important, and we REALLY need to be kinder to ourselves as parents. We do a really tough job out there and it takes its toll!.
It's ok to not be ok.
Merch link in Bio.
ahahahaha Love you guys. Be well, and give yourselves a break out there, you are doing a great job, in a super tough world.
#DadTip: ๐ Life's too short to take yourself too seriously! ๐คช Embrace the silly moments with your kids - whether it's a spontaneous dance party ๐ or a game of make-believe๐งโโ๏ธ, cherish every laugh like it's the greatest treasure! ๐ซ
This is incredibly important in your day to day with the kiddos. I had to grow up pretty fast when I was little dude, and I firmly believe kids deserve to be kids, for as long as they can. Sure they need to learn, but Nerf gun fights and funny voices go a long way!
Much love all, have an amazing day out there!

#Dadtip๐จโ๐งโ๐ฆ Don't forget to take a breather, dad! Being there for your family is amazing, but remember to carve out some 'me time' too. Whether it's a hobby or just relaxing, recharging is key! #SelfCare #DadLife #Parentlife ๐ช
FOR ALL PARENTS --->>
This is definitely important and should go without saying. We all know how poorly we can operate when our batteries aren't charged, and thats no help to anybody around us, especially our families! I KNOW its hard to get lots of recharge time, but even @awesmumttv finds an hour an evening to go unwind with some bubble bath and quiet! You deserve it!
Much love Fam and I hope you are all having a great start to the weekend.
๐จโ๐งโ๐ฆ #DadTip: Communication is key! Create a safe space for your kids to express themselves openly. Listen without judgment, validate their feelings, and be their confidant. Building trust early sets the foundation for lifelong relationships.
@awesmumttv and I have always believed in giving our kids a safe space to talk to us about their feelings and anything else. Judgement reserved. These are the small moves we make now to build trust and good relationships with them as they grow into 15-16-17 year olds etc. We just really want them to know they have a place to sound off if they need it. #ParentingAdvice #OpenHeart
๐จโ๐งโ๐ฆ #DadTip: Practice the power of positive affirmations! Start each day by telling your kids something they're good at or something you admire about them.
It sets a positive tone for the day and boosts their self-esteem. Remember, words have the power to shape their world. (This is true for anybody, and should be used at will.)
@awesmumttv You are not only beautiful, but is what holds us together as a family, the magic that keeps the wheels spinning, the power of mom is one to be reckoned with, and I just wanted to say thanks :) I love you.โค๏ธ #ParentingHack #PositiveVibes
@RMFifthCircuit Off-topic, take those little easy to peel tangerines and pop a couple of them peeled in the freezer
Then let your kid use a box grater to shred it into orange snow
Makes for a great treat, no matter the time of day

#dadtip do stuff with your kids. When my daughter was about 7 we were camping near Charleston SC. The campground had a tie dye activity that she partipated in. She's 27 now and still likes to tie dye. She taught me, we dye together. I make my own high vis.

#DadTip of the dayโฆIf you get a chance to race your kidsโฆDO IT (with no mercy). ๐

I'm a new dad and I've found that the most important thing is just spending time with the child. I could be watching star trek and ill just start randomly discussing data's character with them and it has had such a positive effect
