In a 15thC manuscript which contains the story of the Quest for the Holy Grail, an Irish scribe signed his name as ‘Sir Seán Mailéadanan’ (Sair Seon Mailéadanan) He seems to have been copying titles given to the Knights of the Round Table! ⚔️ #DateoftheDay

CRANNÓC seems to have been first used to mean a wooden lake-dwelling in the 13th century At other times, the word referred to a cup, a basket and even an urn for the ashes of the dead! https://t.co/Tmm81kHHIi #DateoftheDay

Glimpses of past lives... 550 years ago, a man called Tadg Úa Rigbardáin wrote the date (1473) at the end of a manuscript page In 1732, someone did a quick calculation and worked out that Tadg had been writing 259 years previously 🧮✍️ [Image: RIA MS 24 P 1] #DateoftheDay

A medieval Irish text on astronomy!! It is thought to have been adapted from Latin in the 14th century, based references to glass spectacles👓& to the regression of Saturn🪐from Aries to Pisces, which is known to have taken place in the year 1350 #DateoftheDay
