See: Marlena's possession.
Matt Walsh with a sensible take.

I'd actually argue that horror is the most Christian genre of film. Obviously that's not true of the torture porn stuff -- films in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre tradition -- but supernatural horror is often subtly Christian and sometimes very explicitly Christian. It's the only category of film where the supernatural, demons, spirits, exorcisms, the Church, etc, are consistently taken seriously. The only genre where the priest might actually be the good guy. Horror has deep roots in Christian thought and tradition.
Clip 1: AREMID ('95-'96) -- when #Days still understood grand, evocative composition.
Clip 2: Corday's cornpone music two years later.
Incredible the difference.

Favorite possession moment:
Tie between burning down St. Luke's and MarDevil vs. Kristen.
Honorable mentions to the grease paint reveal, Christmas Eve levitation, red dress seduction, the wind storm, Caroline vs. MarDevil and the rapturous finale. #Days #Days95

There was a specific-appeal *gothic grandiosity* missing from daytime that Reilly managed to resurrect all through his original run (to MEGA ratings success!) that no other writer has attempted to re-capture for a starving audience since.

@daysclassics If there’s a book, let me know I’d read it too. I’ve always wanted to know if he was a fan of Dark Shadows. He certainly used a lot of that shows DNA in his first round of stories which had me hooked! The gothic vibes he resurrected on daytime were my favorite!
