Can the use of #Desmopressin be associated with decreased urine output?
In a large retrospective study, intraoperative administration of #DDAVP (Desmopressin) at a dose of 0.3 µg/kg in 38% of 938 patients resulted in a decrease in urine output (UOP) by 0.6 ml/kg during the operating room stay. This reduction in UOP continued for 12 and 24 hours after renal transplantation, with decreases of -3 ml/kg and -6 ml/kg, respectively. Notably, there was also a surprisingly higher estimated blood loss and a reduction in hemoglobin concentration associated with its use.
However, the study did not specify the timing or duration of #Desmopressin administration during the intraoperative period, nor did it determine whether this reduced UOP was linked to an increased incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI).

Intranasal DDAVP is being made available by some pharmacies in Germany and the US but it can not be exported and is not available in all areas of the country. This is only possible whilst the approved preparation is not available. #DDAVP
@ProfMakris We can get it through STAQ pharmacy in the US (some states) but I haven’t had great success with payment from insurances. Anyone else having any payer successes in their state?
