This week the #devolutionbill has gone to committee stage in Parliament - Climate Emergency UK alongside Wildlife and Countryside Link have produced a joint briefing on the need for the Bill to include a statutory duty for climate and nature, which you can read at https://t.co/zv2MLgpyKz.

The English Devolution Bill and the case for a climate and nature duty.
The English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill will create new strategic
authorities across England - but climate and nature is not centred in this new system.
The current Bill includes a duty for health but there is no equivalent duty or weighting
for climate action and nature recovery. This risks leaving national targets detached from local delivery.
Introducing a statutory climate and nature duty would require all authorities to contribute meaningfully to climate mitigation, adaptation, and nature recovery when making decisions.
