Article 27(2) of the 1995 Constitution: No person shall be subjected to interference with the privacy of that person’s home, correspondence, communication or other property.
Are #digitalplates not unconstitutional? Specifically for private citizens with their private property (motor vehicles). We have justified it by saying we shall be able to track criminals but what if it is also used for tracking political opponents, persecution of individuals (e.g activists) or any other perceived enemies of the establishment.
Criminals know they are criminals so you will most likely not snatch them using tracking devices in their vehicles or motorcycles. They will remove them when they’re involved or involving themselves in a crime.
And yes I have the right to ask these questions too in Article 29:
Protections of freedom of conscience, expression, movement, religion, assembly and association.
(1) Every person shall have the right to—
(a) freedom of speech and expression which shall include freedom of the press and other media;
(b) freedom of thought, conscience and belief which shall include academic freedom in institutions of learning;
