In April 2022, PM @narendramodi jis govt launched #DIRV DigitalIndia @risc_v program to catalyze designing next gen semiconductor/chips as part of @SemiconIndia.
Yesterday I was honoured to attend in person the 2nd #DIRV synposium - the ecosystem has grown in last 2 years under its program director Prof Kamakoti, Director of @iitmadras .
At a time of opensource AI growth, RISCV as an open source ISA is a pathway to high performance chips, far from its perception of supporting only IoT, controllers only.
With #DIRV AI & Semicon can intersect and create solutions for future.
I emphasized need for deeper market player/system design hous3 partnerships as envisaged in #FutureLabs and suggested some short term and medium term goals for the ecosystem - pin compatible swappable chips, planning chips as part of emerging products in AI, automotive, defence etc, Target chips for Inference & Edge in AI, exploring new Operating systems/software stack build on open source LLMs etc
Interacting with 900 young students and startups passionate about semicon was in itself a happy thing, giving away awards to smartest winners and experiencing the visible growth was a pleasure and a Sunday well spent.
