NEW: Draft EIA amendment yesterday, proposes changes that were suggested in #DraftEIA2020. In some, goes beyond. Key changes:
1. No EC for power plants of <25 MW using biomass with <15% coal.
2. No EC for all highways in border areas
3. Airport terminals not airport expansions

NEW: @moefcc issues Draft Building Construction Envt Mngmt Rules. The rules' purpose is have "standardised, outcome-based, quantifiable" envt regulations.
Note that #DraftEIA2020 exempted expert envt appraisal for most of these.

Good morning @moefcc! Hope you had a good weekend. By the way it’s 20th July. Ten days ago you should have published #DraftEIA2020 in 21 more languages. We are a two person team, doing this voluntarily and managed to make factsheets in Eng, Hindi and Malayalam.
<IMP> An internal study commissioned by the government and done by @CSIR_NEERI also asked the @moefcc to "revise" the #DraftEIA2020

Btw, it is not just the activists who opposed the #DraftEIA2020 .
Even business lobbies were not unanimously behind it. They asked the government to postpone the implementation of the proposed law, or amend its controversial provisions.
