Housing a family in emergency accommodation costs up to €180,000 each a year
The figures showing the cost of emergency accommodation to the State were revealed for the first time by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (#DRHE) following a request by Sinn Féin TD Eoin Ó Broin.
There are more than 400 families in emergency accommodation who need properties with over three or four bedrooms.
One in five homeless families in emergency accommodation have been there for more than two years.

Carlow man Joe Nolan (59) has been homeless since 2011 when he left prison. He calls the DRHE "You have registered in Carlow so you should interact there, now you are in Dublin we can’t do anything for you". Records show 75 hostel beds were empty that night #RTEInvestigates
The biggest issue during the last election was housing/homelessness. #FFG have failed.
Forty homeless people have died in the Dublin region so far this year, according to figures from the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (#DRHE).
There has been a rise in the number of homeless deaths in the capital over recent years, up from 24 in 2018 to 56 last year. There were 64 deaths recorded in 2021, the highest over the past six years.

Last year he recatagorised some places rather than admit there was crisis #ICHH were only ones trying to highlight numbers but #DRHE closed them down. #RTEinvestigates need to do follow up!

@NewsRuby @Trickstersworld Instead of helping #DRHE try to stop charities feedind these people living in hotels or on the street or even people who after rent can't afford food. They'd rather stop others doing what the state should be doing because it highlights what's actually happening for years.
