We have to concede this success to Modi: letting Tharoor & Owaisi act as ambassadors for India, uniting Indians across religious and party lines for the good of the nation. This isn't front-page news internationally, but one day this will stand out as one of his finest moments.

#VijayDiwas2024 -is celebrated every year on Dec. 16 to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war. The war also resulted in the liberation of Bangladesh. The day is a high point in Indian history and the country pays tribute to bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces.
The war in 1971 between India and Pakistan began on December 3 and lasted 13 days. The war broke out because of the humanitarian crisis in the then East Pakistan. The Pakistani army had launched a campaign against the civilian population of the region. India intervened to support the people in their struggle for independence.
On December 16, 1971, Pakistani General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, the commander of the Pakistani forces, formally surrendered to the combined forces of India and Bangladesh’s Mukti Bahini.
About 93,000 Pakistani troops surrendered along with him, which was the largest military capitulation since World War II.
The victory gave birth not only to Bangladesh but also established India as a regional power. The casualties included an estimated death of about 3,900 Indian soldiers and hundreds sustained injuries.
#VijayDiwas It is in memory of the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers during that war.
The day symbolises freedom from the oppression of the Pakistani military in #Bangladesh.
The day also creates unity and cultivates a sense of patriotism among citizens, reminding one of the importance of defending freedom and sovereignty.
As we celebrate Vijay Diwas , it is crucial to reflect on the long-standing plight of its minority communities, particularly Hindus, whose survival has been marked by continuous persecution. The echoes of 1971, when political, geographical, and ethnic struggles led to widespread violence against minorities, still resonate today.
The blood of these marginalised groups has flowed through the rivers of Bangladesh, both then and now, raising a pressing question: is history repeating itself in the ongoing fight for their survival and dignity
