Thanks for joining us and the conversation about #OER for our #EdMapOpenChat . If you’re interested in learning even MORE about OER save your spot for our free webinar next week presented in collaboration with @OLCToday @ctdlc @WCET_Info https://t.co/uL1DCTICpf #OEWeek
@EdMap A6: Coordination, collaboration between institutions & legislatures for implementing OER initiatives, mandates (Are OER required? Exist already? Need to create? Funds & expertise to create? Academic freedom infringed?). #edmapopenchat
@EdMap A6: Scholars, subject matter experts, practitioners who create OER deserve proper attribution of authorship/rights, and if appropriate, recognition for contributions to scholarly communications/publications. #edmapopenchat
A6: Higher-ed forward momentum is critical. As institutions realize that OER is a good strategy for certain programs, #OER becomes an even bigger part of their larger course material strategy. #EdMapOpenChat
@EdMap A6: Currently, I see some assumptions that OER means less quality than a traditional book. Once OER becomes more prevalent and educators become more familiar and trusting of OER materials, it will become more accepted as content. #EdMapOpenChat
@EdMap A6: Resources, structures, culture need to change & align to incentivize & reward OER creation, development, sharing. #edmapopenchat
@EdMap A6: Law & policy need to catch up with issues related to digital rights & accessibility. There is not a clear understanding of risks, etc. #edmapopenchat
@iste @mindyfrisbee @stu_voice If we give students technology devices, we also need to give them the OER for learning and growth. #EdMapOpenChat #OER
A5: Partners who feel our pain & take time to know our processes and collaborate on communication tools and strategies that work #edmapopenchat
@EdMap A5: More universities creating content; staten national and international education associations creating content. There should also be a standard for creating OER and verification of the information sources. #EdMapOpenChat
@EdMap A5: Filter mechanisms to reduce noise, clutter so I can find what I want and assess quality. Can we reduce/diminish/remove low-quality? #edmapopenchat
@EdMap A5: Tools for handling digital rights issues and sustaining advances in licensing geared towards OERs. #edmapopenchat
A5. This may be a timing issue, but some training and shared knowledge about how to begin the search for items would assist some faculty and SMEs who are not yet familiar with OER materials. Some are overwhelmed right from the start. #EdMapOpenChat
A5: There are more and more resources available with @creativecommons or Public Domain licenses that can be reviewed. It’d be great to normalize what information / metadata we need to show so it’s easier for faculty to adopt #OER. #EdMapOpenChat
@EdMap A5: Improved metadata for searching, browsing, adaption/reuse, and sharing -- plus improved search, browse, filter tools. #edmapopenchat
@EdMap A5: Quality standards, review tools, and rubrics; Peer/user review to aid in validation. #edmapopenchat
A4: For higher-level courses with specific course outcomes, there does not seem to be much in the way of OER as of yet - especially in Nursing and other Healthcare fields. This will most likely change as it becomes more and more adopted. #EdMapOpenChat
