From 12th to 25th August, the #edocation team met at #KAAK_DAI in Germany. During the two-weeks #workshop researchers from @mowaaofficial and @dai_weltweit extended skills of dronebased #StructureFromMotion, #LiDAR and data processing - presenting research results to the public.
After completing a DAI scholarship last year, Dr Akinbowale Mark Akintayo is now extending his field and archive research on the #WorldHeritage site of #Sukur in #Nigeria with further support of our #KAAK_DAI's #edocation project:

Auch die #Ogamien-Residenz in #Benin City, das älteste erhaltene Gebäude der Stadt konnten @EMOWAA_ & #KAAK_DAI-Kolleg:innen im #edocation-Projekt digital dokumentieren. Das daraus entwickelte 3D-Modell erlaubt nun, Konzepte zu Schutz und Rekonstruktion besser planen zu können.
Das im #edocation-Projekt von @EMOWAA_ & #KAAK_DAI mithilfe eines #Strukturlicht-Scanners erstellte digitale Abbild zeigt den hölzernen Altarhocker aus #Benin (ehem. Sammlung @rmjkoeln) in allen Details – und erlaubt es Forschenden, z.B. die Schnitztechnik nachzuvollziehen.
Mit dem #StructureFromMotion-Verfahren können aus Fotos #3DModelle archäolog. Objekte erstellt werden – wie z.B. dieser im #edocation-Projekt von @EMOWAA_ & #KAAK_DAI dokumentierte Gedenkkopf der Königinmutter, Uhunmwu elao ọghe Iy’ọba, aus #Benin (ehem. Sammlung @rmjkoeln).
In #edocation archaeologists of #kaak_dai and @EMOWAA_ together train and apply different methods to digitize objects, buildings and landscapes. It is an honour to work together and a privilege for me to coordinate edo|cation in Benin City, Nigeria.
