I wrote about how silence in schools normalizes white, middle-class expectations & negatively affects students who don't identify with such sonic norms. Thanks to @CI_Editors for supporting this work! DM me if you'd like a copy #MusicEdChat #SoundStudies https://t.co/WsIE6CoXvO
this article i wrote in @BERJ_Editors was published two years ago tomorrow, and for my final undergraduate lecture of the year we will be using it to examine the intermingling of punitive language ideologies and strict discipline in the 'zero tolerance' project in schools.

This is how Ofsted inspectors are trained to respond to teachers who resist standard language ideologies. Note how they use guises of 'social justice' to do this, perpetuating the myth that if marginalised people would just modify their voice, this will solve social inequalities.

Is there a science or any evidential foundation for curriculum sequencing? This will be a long thread and I’m really asking questions rather than giving an answer, but I’m hoping to provoke discussion. #nocurriculumscience #longthread
Reckon I should start a Twitter account for sharing ‘That conclusion of the EEF cognitive science review, twice a day, every day’?

🚨Happy to share my newest publication, "Gender‐just language teaching and linguistic competence development," in which I consider the relationship between teaching queer and trans knowledges and linguistic practices & student linguistic outcomes https://t.co/p6HkLONjPX [🧵1/12+]

A 2020 article I wrote about the primary school 'grammar' tests, the ideologies about language which underpins them, the power of the tests in warping and narrowing pedagogies, and Gibb's role as a language policy architect (open access). https://t.co/CLPq73RGqX
I’m really glad this is on its way. Someone needed to say it, and I am confident @BobEaglestone will do so with erudition, clarity and intelligence. This is an important read, and the @PhilOfEdGB launch should also be fun.
