[NEW VIDEO] #EffectiveJava3E, items 3, 4, 5 talk about singletons, utility classes, and dependency injection. Wondering what they have in common? Looks like you're gonna have to watch the video. 😉

[NEW VIDEO] #EffectiveJava3E - Item 2: "Consider a builder when faced with many constructor arguments" To which I say: "Yes, but try other things first!"

[NEW VIDEO] #EffectiveJava3E - Item 1: "Consider static factory methods instead of constructors." In my words: "Static factories are awesome!"
https://t.co/ifc7XMZakM
Discusses naming, instance-control, type-control, discoverability, the factory patterns and more.
Kicking of my new YouTube series about #EffectiveJava3E:

This is just the outline of what's to come - can#t wait to publish the first video (on static factory methods) next week!
Finished with #EffectiveJava3e, great book!
I think it's a must-read with #CodeComplete and something dedicated on #Java 8+ and #FuncionalProgramming (maybe @pysaumont's #FpInJava )
Thank you @joshbloch @InformIT 👍
I have a hard time to believe #EffectiveJava3e that #Java code *inside* projects needs to have #Javadoc's. Self-documented #CleanCode with #tests named in #BDD style and examples work better for me and praised by @martinfowler @ToBeAgile @unclebobmartin #TDD
A controversial #java example from #EffectiveJava3e with the proper formatting #CleanCode and a @vavr_io alternative
Today's weekly is about all kinds of things: Maven, Guava, The Java Module System, streams on #Java9, #EffectiveJava3E, @software_daily, and a Piano. Subscribe: https://t.co/zsoEZtnovK
Shouldn't the try-with-resources item (9) mention that in #Java9 the resource no longer has to be assigned?
Item 9 makes me really happy that I never dev'd professionally with Java <7 with try-try-finally-finally-cross-fingers-hope-everything-works.
#EffectiveJava3E
Oh, I didn't know the Javadoc search box #Java9 added could be filled manually. Nice!
#EffectiveJava3E
I just love the rest of the Javadoc item (56). Maybe a little overboard on the "document everything" front, but so much good advice on how to structure and phrase for good readability.
#EffectiveJava3E
I think this isn't even new:
"To document your API properly, you must precede every exported class, interface, constructor, method, and field declaration with a doc comment."
It's almost like https://t.co/4jAIhoB9Cm, but less vulgar and with more authority.
#EffectiveJava3E
I just got my (electronic) copy of #EffectiveJava3E and am reading the new parts. Will tweet a little about it...
Just sent final manuscript off to AW for final proofreading. Total 90 items. #EffectiveJava3e
