Flock's brand is so damaged that cops are asking a competitor to make cameras that don't look like Flock cameras so the public doesn't tear them down. Axon could have responded with better privacy protections or more transparency. Instead they're putting the cameras higher on streetlights where people can't reach them. People across the country have been ripping down Flock cameras, spray painting over lenses, and backing trucks into them after finding out the cameras were sharing their data with hundreds of agencies without their knowledge. 56 cities cancelled Flock contracts this year. A cop in one town 3D-printed a fake camera as bait and charged a guy with three felonies for breaking it. The industry had a chance to fix the oversight problems that caused all of this. Instead they're redesigning the hardware to be less reachable and hoping the backlash burns itself out. I don't think it will. Hedgie🤗
