Here's How We Expand the Avalanche Network The Avalanche network has always been at the forefront of web3 technology, decentralization and scalability. A testament to its strength is the 1,325 validators already actively participating. However, in order to launch all Subnets on Fuji testnet, we need to hit a target of 2,000 validators with that target rising as Subnet adoption increases. So here's a question for you to ponder: How do we bridge the gap between the 1,325 validators we have now and the 1000s more we'll need in the future? Challenges Node Operators Face 1. The costs associated with becoming a validator can be expensive. Regular validation of Avalanche requires 2000 AVAX which at current prices is over $25K. That means in order to launch a Subnet you'd have to cover $125K in costs just for the initial validators. 2. Current incentives for validators may not be enticing enough to attract the necessary numbers. There are certain risks that come with investing in a validator and some users may not see an estimated 5% apy as worth the risk; especially with more competitive defi apys being possible. 3. Management and launch of a validator needs to be streamlined. Launching a validator regularly can be difficult for people who aren't technically savvy.
