🇺🇸🇦🇲US Supports Armenia in Modernizing Customs with $3.5 Million Aid
American company S2 Global Corporation has provided $3.5 million under the @usembarmenia’s Export Control and Border Security #EXBS program.
The company’s delegation met with Eduard Hakobyan, Chairman of @srcarmenia, to oversee the implementation of the CertScan® Inspection integration platform.
The #CertScan platform will consolidate images from X-ray scanning systems at various border checkpoints into a single, centrally managed platform in Yerevan.
UNODC delivered two trainings on #ExportControl in Tajikistan & Uzbekistan, strengthening Customs and law enforcement capacities to counter illicit trafficking of strategic & dual-use goods. 🤝 funded by 🇺🇸 #EXBS
Strengthening maritime, border, and strategic trade security is key to regional stability and global non-proliferation efforts. In September, we held the Subregional Conference on Strategic Trade, Border and Maritime Security, organized in San José 🇨🇷 by the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Section of #CICTE @OAS_Official and @CRcancilleria, with the support of the #EXBS program of the @StateDept 🇺🇸, @BAFA_Bund 🇩🇪 and @eu_eeas 🇪🇺.
Delegations from Peru 🇵🇪, Costa Rica 🇨🇷, Panama 🇵🇦, the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴, Chile 🇨🇱 and Colombia 🇨🇴 met to strengthen regional cooperation on:
✅ Improving export and border controls.
✅ Reinforcing maritime security and protecting critical infrastructure.
✅ Advancing the design of national plans and policies on maritime and port security.
📅 Over three days, discussions focused on:
🔹 Day 1: Strategic trade and dual-use goods.
🔹 Day 2: Border control and cross-border cooperation.
🔹 Day 3: Maritime security and port protection.

Este espacio reunió a autoridades gubernamentales de Barbados🇧🇧, Brasil🇧🇷, Chile🇨🇱, Colombia🇨🇴, Costa Rica🇨🇷, Ecuador🇪🇨, Guyana🇬🇾, México🇲🇽, Panamá🇵🇦, Perú🇵🇪, Bahamas🇧🇸 y Uruguay🇺🇾 para intercambiar experiencias sobre regulaciones efectivas, tecnologías emergentes, riesgos, licencias y colaboración interagencial en controles estratégicos de comercio.
Marcelo Martínez @machemmc, Jefe de la Sección de Desarme y No Proliferación de @OEA_CICTE, destacó el rol de la @OEA_oficial como facilitador de la cooperación regional y compartió la experiencia de asistencia técnica de los #ProgramasCICTE para que los Estados Miembros fortalezcan sus marcos regulatorios y capacidades en esta materia.
Mike Beck y Scott Jones, consultores @OEA_CICTE, expusieron las mejores prácticas y el trabajo desarrollado en Latinoamérica y el Caribe para enfrentar los desafíos asociados con las tecnologías emergentes en la cooperación internacional.
