Yet, with the many hurdles, there has been an increase of first-gen students of color at prestigious institutions like the many Ivy League and other top-tier universities. However, it may not feel like that when we make up less than 10% of the student body #firstgenexperience
Many of us (first gen students of color) derive from communities of low socioeconomic status. We didn't have many individuals that came from backgrounds and that look like us that were successful #firstgenexperience
With graduation season just a few weeks away; I've been reflecting on the past 2 years since I've graduated from @Georgetown. As a first generation Mexican-American, it's an overwhelming experience to be the first one in your family to go to college #firstgenexperience
