Day 183. My last official day as a #firstyearvp.I can't believe how much I have evolved; as a person, an educator and as a leader in such a short time. Thank you to the amazing IICS community for helping me grow into a stronger, smarter, kinder, more thoughtful version of myself.
Day 182. It has taken a year but I am now more comfortable sharing my failures with my colleagues during PD sessions. Being openly vulnerable as admin helps promote a safe environment in which to effectively reflect and improve. #vulnerability #transparency #firstyearvp #share
Day 181. Last day with students today. Grade level leaders organised homerooms activities followed by StuCo's community talent show. What a fabulous bunch of people I worked with this year. Thank you everyone for a great #firstyearvp. You have all made me better. #iics1911
Day 176. Time is marching on. Next year's timetable is no where to be seen. Panic or retreat into darkness? Both are valid options right now...#firstyearvp #scheduling #timetable
Day 175. Shouldn't we be winding down in the last couple of weeks of the school year? Why are things getting more hectic? I'm not sure we are doing it right...#firstyearvp
Day 174. Things I would like to say to people but can't...Stay in your lane. What makes you think that I can't do it? Why would you assume I would do that when I have NEVER done it before? Don't mistake my amiable nature for vulnerability, weakness or ineptitude. #firstyearvp
VP Day 171. After 2 hours of sleep and countless cups of coffee I have possibly managed to complete the first draft of my first whole school timetable. The smugness and self congratulatory smirking is off the charts and I'm not sorry about it. #firstyearvp #timetable #scheduling
VP Day 169. I managed to get absolutely nothing done AND be late for an important meeting today. But it doesn't matter. Why? Because I got to say goodbye to some of my favourite Seniors IN PERSON as they came to drop off resources. #iics1911 #seniors2020 #firstyearvp #aurevior
VP Day 164. There is nothing better to foil any delusions of intelligence, confidence or knowledge in one's self than an afternoon spent timetabling. #timetabling #scheduling #teacherproblems #firstyearvp
VP Day 155. The reality that I may not be able to say goodbye to our wonderful Seniors in person is starting to sink in. What a strong, quirky, engaging and generally fabulous group of young people. The future is in good hands. #iics1911 #seniors2020 #Graduation2020 #firstyearvp
VP Day 100. First 100 Days:..revamped morning homeroom, published a paper, planned a whole school initiative and a staff PD day, signed up for PTC, learnt how to recruit and interview...My reward? This sunset from the school library. #sunset #firstyearVP #change #iics1911 #tyvm
Day 72 VP. One of the (many) perks of my new job is that I finally get to live in a proper house. Our first ever Christmas tree is now officially up. My mood has gone from crazed to content knowing holidays are around the corner. #firstyearvp #SEASONSGREETINGS #HolidaysAreComing
Day 71 VP. I love when parents and school are in sync. Very positive family meeting today. It was clear to the student that everyone was in the room out of love, kindness and concern. We now have a plan to move forward with complete student buy-in. #firstyearvp #communityschool
Day 69 VP. I LOVE HL genetics. Dihybrid crosses?Winning.Test crosses? Yas queen. Gene linkage? Slaying with craft stick modelling. Polygenic inheritance? Get woke about race as a non-scientific concept. Time to teach it effectively? Girl please. This is the IB. #firstyearvp #ibbio
Day 67 VP. What I should be doing [marking lab reports] vs what I actually am doing [buying Christmas presents frantically online and hoping they will actually arrive to school in time for my flight back to Scotland]. #firstyearvp #feeelingfestive

Day 64 VP. A part of my new job I hadn't anticipated was the attendance at various networking and hosting events.I now realise I need to evolve my small talk instead of downing the bread basket to camouflage my discomfort. #firstyearvp #socialskills #sharethebread #awkward
Day 63 VP. Anyone been part of a program that embeds Content and Language Integrated Learning as a whole-school strategy? Bonus points if your school is IB! The frustration of not meeting the needs of our EAL students is starting to overwhelm me #CLIL #firstyearvp #EAL #language
Day 62 VP. I love teaching Biology. I am SO over teaching osmosis. Every year with the #@*^&% potatoes. And the cork borers. And mucking about with mass balances. And the rubbish results. At least it isn't liver catalase.... #ibmyp #osmosis #mypbiology #grade10bio #firstyearvp
VP Day 58. Ran a stress management workshop as senior year begins to take its toll. How does the IBDP encourage students to become lifelong learners if they associate learning with stress, anxiety and exhaustion? #ibdp #firstyearvp #stressmanagement #senioryear
