A5) we only carry inside veer. We have a tag that makes our inside veer an outside veer read but doesn’t change the footwork and tbh it’s not effective. If I want to run outside veer my answer right now is go speed option instead. Don’t want to mess with mesh point. #FlexboneChat
@FlexboneQBRoom A6 - Rocket for me but Jet is great for many. It’s Important to have formations & edge adjustments to get the best situation for Rocket. Rocket is a strong action play with great complements. I think Rocket & Jet are similar but different and both can be carried. #FlexboneChat
@FlexboneQBRoom A5 - great? I learned triple option from the wishbone tree of Triple Op, and our scheme was (1) play but a mix of IV/OV concepts depending on the look. One mesh with the B-Back making the crease right. True IV has some read situations better handled by ML3 IMO. #FlexboneChat
@FlexboneQBRoom A3 - I’m a flex coach in hibernation 😂, but I was 100% UC. I ran short pistol once and I think it’s great, but key injuries got me back UC and we were successful so I never re-visited SP. Personally, I’d rather be all UC or all Gun/Pistol for comfort & rhythm. #FlexboneChat
@FlexboneQBRoom A2 • Different Formations & WR alignments can help by changing the match-ups, angles, & timing of the perimeter block; I also like 2-TE’s to make the DB’s condense, play, & fit differently. #FlexboneChat
@FlexboneQBRoom A1 - It depends on if motion is affecting the defense (backers bumping or safeties rolling). Good to use it on some plays where perimeter numbers don’t matter but in the option game, make sure you’re are getting what you want from the defense to use it. #FlexboneChat
That’ll do it for questions! Thank you again for participating in the #FlexboneChat. Coaches: Feel free to answer any of tonight’s questions at any time. #Flexbone
Q7 • Finally, a sendoff into the 2025 season: What are typical “goals” you set for your #Flexbone offense — by game? By season? What are key stats or moments on film you’re looking for to determine offensive success? #FlexboneChat
Q6 • Similar theme as Q5… many #Flexbone purists love Rocket, but lately many OCs have turned exclusively to Jet. Are you one of them — if you could only carry one, which are you installing? #FlexboneChat
Q5 • I posted about this a while ago, but the debate continues… #Flexbone Inside Veer vs. Outside Veer. Which is your preference? Do you carry both? What are advantages/disadvantages to each? #FlexboneChat
Q4 • Do you run #Flexbone Counter Option — if so, how difficult (or easy) was it to install? If you don’t, is there a specific reason why you can’t/won’t? #FlexboneChat
Q3 • This one may be a bit sensitive to some… how much Gun/Pistol have you incorporated into your #Flexbone offense? Why or why not? #FlexboneChat
Q2 • Let’s say you’re in-game and perimeter blocking is just struggling… what are your go-to concepts when A-Backs/WRs can’t take care of their responsibility — do you go away from #Flexbone option schemes completely? #FlexboneChat
Q1 • How often has your #Flexbone offense used “Flow” (opposite) motion — what are you looking for from a defense to trigger it? #FlexboneChat
Let’s get this #FlexboneChat rolling — starting with check-ins! Excited to talk more #Flexbone before everybody’s fall camps get underway.
Let us know who you are and where you coach!
@FlexboneQBRoom A5) Never change your scheme. The trick is to make sure to have effective passing concepts already implemented. Then, find new ways to call those concepts (formations, switch releases) that can be taught in a fall camp / summer. Then, call em more often for that kid #Flexbonechat
@FlexboneQBRoom A3) we love midline triple and tag “anchor (no motion), load” the stacked backer. You still get the slice on the nose so the center isn’t alone and your midline triple reads stay the same. No reading the stack this way! #Flexbonechat

@FlexboneQBRoom A2) we’re toes parallel with the LOS. For the offense to go you have to be able to run zone dive, and a dog out block from the Playside A on the DE is too hard if you’re angled in towards the ball. #FlexboneChat
