"The Homes Under the Hammer fallacy that everyone who is working from home is watching TV is still strong in some organisations.” perfect statement @HR_Gem! #FlexibilityStigma https://t.co/447lo8x3WM
This is again due to fear of negative career outcomes when flexible working #FlexibilitySTigma and esp. for men, they are fearful of losing their masculine breadwinner image when they do use flexibility at work to do domestic chores
Slightly naive piece by @TheEconomist on the rise of the #RemoteHusband largely ignoring the social normative issues around #homeworking #Flexibilitystigma and #divisionoflabour/ housework and childcare (why did not just ask me?) 1/🧵 https://t.co/0UhqU36NfM
Second flexitime teleworking? As my book #FlexibilityParadox mentions, yes great to enhance mother's employment post childbirth, but can exacerbate gender inequalities at home with mothers doing more unpaid work & in the labour market if mothers experience more #flexibilitystigma
Absolute blatant #flexibilitystigma coming from @Dell despite the fact that earlier they acknowledge there being no difference in the performance/engagement between wfh and in office workers. This is just bad workplace policy which will hurt the company. https://t.co/4OAc7XddaQ
We found that BAME workers especially found that their homeworking was viewed with suspecion as #FlexibilityStigma intersected with #RacialBias against their work capacity, making them especially suseptable to #FlexibilityParadox 5/🧵
However! we also found that workers' felt #flexibilitystigma resulting in feeling being micro-managed by managers, resulting in workers working harder/longer, feeling a need to perform digital presenteeism, not being able to be fully off from work 4/🧵
The study finds is that remote working can lead to impediments on one's career. older workers feel that gen Zs need to come in to the office to gain experience and opportunities, while Gen Zs feel like home working will allow for me options to arise. #FlexibilityStigma
Working from home allows people to eat more healthily, feel less stressed and have lower blood pressure, according to a large-scale review of academic literature on post-pandemic workplaces from @UKHSA & @KingsCollegeLon https://t.co/R9dKfHn3Go
Ahhhhh the community notes on this one is an absolute beauty ain't it? #FlexibilityStigma
Lord Alan Sugar explains why he's not a fan of WFH
Another white male spewing #FlexibilityStigma without any solid evidence based on their own convictions and experience of performative #idealworker.
These are not just ignorant comments, they're weaponised threats to justify gender/other inequalities in the labour market
In the press this week:
🔹L’OrealGroupe’s CEO says remote-only staff have ‘no passion, no creativity’
🔹 A judge rules that a @TheFCA employee cannot be remote only.
Are employers & employees poles apart on WFH? Or is the reality more nuanced - our blog https://t.co/W0EYMEBSeJ
Very similar to the findings from my own paper in which finds it is generally men who hold #FlexibilityStigma https://t.co/1DgXcaZPu5 + findings from @HR_TIHR paper which shows how flexible working help support women's labour market participation https://t.co/xAUybFKamD
I wrote a whole book about this bad on 15 years of studying this issue... but sure, this guy on the Internet experience is more valid #FlexibilityStigma #internalisedcapitalism #idealworkernorm
If you missed my talk at @oiioxford @UniofOxford last week, don't worry. you can watch the video recording of it here! #FlexibilityParadox #FlexibilityStigma #BookTalk @policypress https://t.co/jfdoHbshyg

Our writer explains why the WFH evangelists were wrong - and lays bare home working's effect on the economy.
