The publication of our #FosteringPotential report allows us to reflect on the last 10 years of work since the publication of Selecting for Excellence in 2014, and look to the future of widening participation.
It looked into issues around selection into medical school and how best to widen access and diversify the profession. Over the last 10 years, MSC has worked with admissions and outreach teams and the NHS to implement the recommendations and increase the number of medical students from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
In the latest report, we re-examine those interventions next to the data and we put forward a new 10-year vision of what now needs to happen to maintain and expand the growth and progress already made.
