Their duas are like the supplications of the angels (ibn Maja)
Ask them what they need? Make conversations with them.

*Your continues good deeds for the deceased can change their "rank" within the grave.
Make duas for them just like how you would want for yourself.
Those you care for, but have gone. Remember any good?
Yes, it is possible! The Prophet ๏ทบ told us, 'A person's rank [in the grave] is raised, and he asks: My Lord, where is this from? He is told: From the prayers of your son for you' [Bayhaqฤซ 7/79].
Likewise, all gifted good deeds have the potential to raise ranks & forgive sins.
