This is exactly the situation with our language. Many videos come out, and one person says they’re speaking Punjabi in the video, another says it’s Hindko, while a third claims it’s Saraiki.

Punjabi is called the language that is spoken across the land of the five rivers, so when this entire region is called Punjab, why is Punjabi limited only to areas like Lahore, Gujrat, and Gujranwala? Here, only one dialect of Punjabi is spoken, known as Majhi Punjabi.
Is there any language in the world where each dialect is labeled as a separate language? And on what linguistic basis is a dialect presented as a separate language? When the criteria for recognizing a separate language are not even met, our culture, traditions, lifestyle, food, celebrations, and sorrows are all shared. So, why are different dialects of Punjabi presented as distinct languages?
