I've noticed that the Egg Nog War is spreading outside of #goontwitter. For those of y'all not in the know, who are wondering WTF is going on, here is a primer.
First up, there are two types of military / veteran / veteran adjacent communities on Twitter. What we call "miltwitter" are the folks that expect you to thank them for their service and demand their free meal at Applebee's on Veterans Day. The other group is "goontwitter". Goon's are like "oh, what shit can I get up to today and not get caught, and if I get caught, how much can I talk my way out of it." You do not have to be active duty or a veteran to be in goontwitter. Goontwitter has a big welcoming tent. I'm willing to bet you can figure out where I fall.
We launch stupid arguments / wars when the stress of the gestalt gets to be too much. Currently there are the Noggers who understand the greatness of Egg Nogg and all the awesomeness that is associated with it. Then there are the anti-noggers. People with poorly developed taste buds who were neglected as children. So we argue about Egg Nog.
In the past we've had "wars" over pineapple on pizza or if you're pro Opposum (as the good Lord intended) or anti Oppossum. Right now the big stressor is the election. So we create these stupid wars to vent off our frustrations with how stupid life is.
I'm sorry that our war has apparently spread to the normies and hope that this explanation helps so you're better able to understand what's happening.
