The original #GoriTemple in #Tharparkar, district of Pakistan still stands, but is empty. It is in village of Gori between Islamkot and #Nagarparkar. . It was built in 1375-1376 CE. The temple was exclusively allocated to the 23rd Jain Tirthankar Lord Parshwanath.

This cave in courtyard of 700+ years old Jain #GoriTemple in Tharparkar is said to be hundreds miles long and goes beyond the border. And for obvious reasons, it is permanently blocked and closed. #Sindh

When you'll arrive at #GoriTemple, the temple, with fresco art and marble carvings, was built by a #Jain worshipper in the #16thcentury. These local folk singers will welcome you with 'O maara mithra re mehmaan bhale aawya re'.

The canopy which offers entrance to the #GoriTemple is decorated with paintings that represent Jain mythology. The temple was damaged by British troops who tried to capture a Sodha chief who had led a local rebellion. #HistoryEncyclopedia #History

The #GoriTemple measures 125 feet by 60 feet & is built of marble. The entire temple is built on a high platform that is reached by a series of steps carved into stone. The interiors of the temple feature finely carved marble pillars. #HistoryEncyclopedia #History
