All the 4 places mentioned are known for famous inscriptions.
Halmidi has (one of) the earliest #Kannada inscription, from #Kadamba kings.
Jura in Madhyapradesh has a famous Kannada inscription of #Rashtrakuta Krishna III.
Ellora, Maharashtra has the famous inscription of Rashtrakuta king #Dantigurga.
Sanjan, Gujarat is where the very famous copperplate inscription of Rahstrakuta king #Dantidurga.
As you can see, 3 are associated with Rashtrakutas but Halmidi is associated with Kadambas.
Another way of looking at this would be to pick Sanjan as it is a copper plate inscription while the other three are inscribed on stone.

The old #Kannada script of #Kadamba era used in the #Halmidi inscription. Very different from the present day Kannada script. All language/scripts undergo evolution. #Malayalam used a different script for centuries until they evolved a new script from the #Tulu script.

Oldest #Tamil inscriptions are probably contemporary to #Ashoka's inscriptions but are much shorter in content. longer ones like the #Kannada #inscriptions at #Halmidi or even the #SimhaKatanjana from #Talagunda (~375 CE) aren't much older in #Tamizh too.
