I went to a relatively prestigious school (Swarthmore) and recruiters from lots of top firms came to campus my senior year.
Many only considered applicants from ~50 schools (out of ~1,800 in the US).
This is where the "prestige premium" comes from.

Highly-selective colleges reject so many students in order to keep their pool of graduates small.
Fewer people with a "prestigious" degree = higher earnings for members of the club. That pushes up top colleges' ROI, but for the wrong reasons.

1) Stronger accountability policies to protect students from predatory institutions
2) More publicly available and more accurate data

A8: It all comes down to better info. We should require that every student entering a major is told what the earnings and debt are for recent students who studied the same major at that college. That would empower students and give incentives to colleges to improve! #HigherEdROI
