On Tuesday, 10/20, @MDSHA will host a Public Open House event from 6-8 pm at Centennial High School in #EllicottCityMD, to provide #HoCoMD w/ the opportunity to view proposed design concepts & provide feedback on its Upper Little Patuxent Stream Restoration Project.
Back in 2015, SHA completed a restoration project along ~4,250 feet of the Upper Little Patuxent River & an adjacent tributary. Unfortunately, following the project’s completion, the area experienced 2 unprecedented flood events associated w/ severe regional storms. While the restored floodplain successfully captured excess sediment & prevented downstream pollution during these storms, the accumulation of material & the physical force of the water created several site deficiencies. To restore site functionality w/ minimal environmental disruption, SHA is looking to initiate a series of targeted adaptive management measures thru this project.
While there will be no formal presentation at the open house, SHA reps will be on hand to answer ?s & gather feedback. To learn more about this project, visit SHA's project website at https://t.co/G27ALBSPi6; for ?s about the meeting, email SHA's Water Programs Division at [email protected].

Despite recent rain events, the VOLUNTARY WATER RESTRICTION @BaltimoreDPW placed in effect for its public water customers, including those #HoCoMD, back in May, REMAINS IN EFFECT at this time. Residential & commercial public water customers regionally are being asked to voluntarily reduce their non-essential water use to help protect our regional water supply, by: postponing lawn & garden watering; repairing or replacing leaking faucets, hoses, & sprinklers; running only full loads in dishwashers & washing machines; & turning off taps while brushing teeth or shaving & minimizing shower time.
As water leaks are one of the largest sources of water waste, if you see any signs of running water outdoors that may indicate a leak or break in @HoCoGov's watermain, please contact our Bureau of Utilities at 410-313-4900 (M-F, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.) or 410-313-2200, select option #5 (after hours).
Remember, this VOLUNTARY water restriction applies only to residents who receive public water supply, i.e., a water bill from the County's Dept. of Finance. It does not apply to properties on private wells.
Please continue to save water! 💧 Due to drought conditions, we’re asking residents to conserve water to protect our water supply.
🚿 Shorten Showers
🔧 Fix Leaks Promptly
🚰 Turn off the running tap
Every drop counts! 💧

In honor of International Year of the Woman Farmer, NASDA is continuing to celebrate farmers like Jarmonay P. Nelson of Enjoui Farm. After years of working in professional kitchens, Jarmonay found her way to farming through a desire to better understand where food comes from and create stronger connections between food, health and community. Today, she grows food while teaching youth, adults and people with disabilities how to grow and prepare their own food. Her advice to the next generation?
