“विद्या अमृतमश्नुते” — True knowledge bestows the nectar of immortality. Exactly one year ago today, on the 14th of August, my Hindi book “प्रवाह” was unveiled amidst the resonant chanting of Vedic mantras, in loving tribute to my maternal great-grandfather, Pandit Krishna Lal Sharma Ji. This date, and this dedication, are not mere gestures… they echo the anguish of Partition, the wounds it carved into our collective memory, and the indomitable spirit that safeguarded our cultural essence. The 14th of August is etched not only in political history, but in the heart of a nation as a day of profound loss; when millions were uprooted from sacred soil, torn from their temples, severed from their mother tongue and ancient traditions. My own family walked through that crucible of sorrow, yet they emerged unbroken. In founding a Sanskrit school for girls in Dalwala and serving at the hallowed Katas Raj temple, Pandit Ji affirmed an eternal truth: no matter how cruel the tide of history, the “प्रवाह”, the sacred current of knowledge and dharma flows on, unceasing and pure. Through its 125 articles, my book “प्रवाह” gathers the timeless wisdom of the Vedas and Upanishads and carries it into the river of contemporary life. Over the past year, the outpouring of love, reverence, and grace from readers has left me humbled and profoundly grateful. It is proof that the soul of India, her culture, her language, her spirituality - all remain vibrant, vigilant, and invincible. Today, as we stand at the confluence of Partition’s grief and the dawn of Independence, this book remains my offering to those countless souls who, even in exile, refused to let their heritage, their culture, their mother tongue their language, and their faith be erased. #August14 #HorrorsOfPartition #Spirituality #India #Independence
