Here’s a reframe on danger. I’ve had death threats in the past. Now, I certainly didn’t blow them off, but, I can’t say they rattled me, either. To me, driving is a death threat. People die in car accidents in every state, every single day. Statistically, driving is pretty dangerous, actually. We don’t stop going places, though. We just drive as safely as we can, and that is that. While not always true, for the most part, if someone really wants to kill me, they aren’t going to give me a heads up. I’ll never see it coming. Most other threats are people wanting someone to live in fear, but they likely aren’t planning to carry it through. Like I said, that’s not always the case, but..a useful rule of thumb. Tell me, why would I give more of my attention to some dirt bag threatening me online, than the 4,000 lb missiles whizzing past me on a two lane highway with less than three feet between us? That just doesn’t make sense to me. I’m not very good prey. I’m more of the hunter type. Someone else, thinking they are the one doing the “hunting” can find themselves losing the “hunter” title really quick, and becoming MY prey if they give me a heads up. I’m funny like that. I wouldn’t suggest agreeing to be the prey to anyone. I was prey as a kid. I grew into a Lion. It was more of a decision. If you refuse to be prey, you become a Lion even if that wasn’t your intention. One day you roar…and it shocks you. But, it also feels WONDERFUL. You begin to live in a seemingly fearless way. I say “seemingly” because authentic fear-when danger is actually present-is a good thing. It will save your life. Feeling fear when no actual danger is present, though, is prey mentality. It’s just not a good way to live. I take driving seriously. I take death threats seriously. Neither one interrupt my experience of enjoyment, however. I drive really well. I fight and shoot really well, too. Outside of that, it’s out of my control. I don’t worry about things outside of my control. You shouldn’t either. Even if you live to be 100, life is is too damn short. Enjoy it. Don’t fear it. #IDontPrey #IRoar
