Banning trade with illegal Israeli settlements is the right thing to do, both morally and under international law. It is also supported by a majority of the British public. It must be comprehensive and as robust as possible. Today must mark the start of a drastic change to the UK’s relationship with Israel. Israel continues to violate international law, committing genocide and war crimes against Palestinians. These sanctions are a welcome first step but we must go much further: implementing wider economic sanctions, a complete arms embargo, and ending military support.
